Electronic schedule for 23 carpenters
We replaced the corkboard with a touch screen. No more errors in measurements and unclear completion dates.
It started when one employee cut a countertop 3.5 cm too short. He didn't read the note on a crumpled piece of paper. At 'U Janka', the corkboard was no longer enough as orders increased. We introduced a simple screen that everyone understood in one afternoon.
The challenge
23 carpenters work in the workshop. Each project had its own paper folder. When a client called in the morning and changed a cabinet's width, the information reached the floor too late. The material was already cut. In April 2024 alone, 7 such mistakes happened. They cost the company about 4,150 PLN in ruined wood. No one also knew exactly how much time each stage took without walking around and asking everyone individually.
Our approach
We spent 3 working days directly by the saws and sanders. We watched how the carpenters read drawings. Instead of building a large system, we went with technology the human way. We chose 4 tablets in thick cases resistant to dust and shavings. We focused on not changing old habits, but simply making it easier to view current measurements.
The solution
We installed touch stations at key points in the workshop. Each employee, upon arrival, selects their name and sees a list of tasks. If the office changes a dimension in the system, a large red message pops up on the carpenter's screen. The system also contains photos of finish details. Thanks to this, new employees don't have to keep calling the foreman to check how to mill an edge.
Results
After two months, the plant stopped wasting expensive wood due to communication errors. Everyone knows what to do, and the office sees progress in real-time without entering the floor.

"To be honest, I was afraid the guys would throw these tablets at the wall. It turned out that just making large buttons was enough. Now no one has to run to the office to ask for dimensions."
